Stylized Shoot|The Hermitage

So it started off as one of our get togethers; friendors and margs involved so needless to say our creative juices started flowing, along with the tequila ;) It was before Wedding season kicked off, March, when I'm itching to shoot and dreaming of happy colors and fun ideas. Usually I'm approached and asked (and so honored!)  to shoot these types of things so it was fun to have a little bit of say in what took place this go round! We wanted bright, we wanted light. 'Summer soiree' was our initial goal--with a touch of black and white. I love my happy colors but I'm alwaaaays drawn to my favorite, classic black and whites--in clothes, in decorating and style in general, it's a 'go to' for me so I was excited to have that incorporated in small ways! I think it ups the 'elegance' a tad while still being able to incorporate rustic, romantic, bright--you name it, it could flow-- think of it as a 'neutral' ;) We (Kim Porter, April, Mary Anne) Approached As You Wish Event Planning with our random jumble of ideas, trusted them fully and let them run with our color ideas and hopes for all things cotton candy! They're amazing!!  Now, that damn cotton candy. Can we all agree that it would be super adorable to have a wheel barrel filled with plush bags of whimsical cotton candy to act as not only a fun and unique dessert but a keepsake for guests to take?!  AND a machine going all night long whipping up fresh pink cones while spreading the sweet aroma of heavenly sugars?! Yeah, that was my vision, but you can go ahead and call us a pinterest FAIL.  (so you can have yourself a little giggle thinking about that when you get to those pictures) The little machine we got barely worked and our helpers were hard at work trying to whip up cotton candy and the little that was made melted instantly in the sweltering heat. So, friends, I'm sure if there's a will there's a way so hopefully one day I'll see my cotton candy dreams come true at a Wedding ;) Maybe invest in a better machine and leave it to the professionals :) Either way, we had a ton of fun! The Hermitage is a stunning location and venue option, our models, who weren't an actual couple believe it or not--did a phenomenal job together and were such troopers in the heat amongst the bugs! Loved working with such wonderful people and overall I think our Summer Soiree was a success!
